Who
is Robert Roy-Laliberte, Director?
Robert
began working with international students in 1997, when he led a group of 50
university students on a 5-week tour to the Middle East.
He returned to Canada to take up the position of President of the
International Business Association at Concordia
University.
While at
Concordia, he organized numerous successful events for the many thousands of
both local and foreign university students studying in Montréal.
Events included several weekend getaways to Ottawa, Mont Ste-Anne (a
popular ski resort), Mont Tremblant, and the popular ‘CIBA International
Weekend’ up north, which included hikes, canoe races and campfires.
He organized four amazing parties at very cool and trendy nightclubs
downtown Montréal. He hosted educational events highlighting the importance of
cross-cultural communication and understanding, and many interesting evenings
where students from around the world could just stop in, converse with other
international and local students and where they could simply practice their language skills, perhaps
over a cold drink or a hot latte. Robert
won 5 awards o
f excellence for his efforts at Concordia University.
Following
Robert’s schooling at Concordia and McGill
University, he obtained a degree in International Business; but his work
with the international student community did not
end there.
He worked in the Homestay
business for almost 6 years.
His family hosted students and he enjoyed the position of Senior
Counselor and Activity Coordinator with another Homestay Agency, ensuring that
each and every student’s stay was educational, amusing, and safe.
To pursue his passions in traveling, Robert traveled throughout Europe for six months. His many stops included Greece, Italy, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Bulgaria, and France. He also traveled to Latin America where he had the chance to hike glaciers, see the tip of the world, and stay in the Jungle! He enjoys many solid friendships from around the world, from Asia through Europe, to Africa and the Middle East, throughout Canada, the United States, all the way through South America. He returned to Montréal, joined MONTRÉAL NUMBER 1 HOMESTAY, and continues to enjoy working regularly in the Film and Television industry.
